7 Simple Steps to a Bionizer Chlorine Free Pool
1. Install a Bionizer Ionizer on your pool
Also add optionally an Eco-Oxidizer and/or a pH Boss auto pH controller (which is not just a troublesome acid doser)
2. If your pool has been a salt chlorinated pool or chlorine pool
Then allow several days to several weeks for the chlorine to dissipate
to very low or zero levels. Do not add any more chlorine stabilizer to the pool.
Another method is to drain the pool and refill with fresh water and rebalance the water according to the Bionizer water balance chart.
3. Choose your Oxidizer
We suggest Hydrogen Peroxide H2O2 is the only choice. The APVMA has registered two products as sanitizers for pools in Australia. One is chlorine and the other is H2O2. To operate a chlorine free pool the oxidizer to use would therefore be H2O2 which is a potent oxidizer with negligible effects for eczema or asthma sufferers and doesn’t cause red eyes or dry skin, hair and nails and leaves no smell on the skin, so no showering after swimming is required.
4. Oxidizing your pool
H2O2 is available in liquid form and also as a powder called Sodium Percarbonate that turns into H2O2 in the water. These can be administered by hand or a simple auto doser can be used to supply a regular dose of liquid to the pool without the need of measuring or hand dosing.
5. Combine the Bionizer Ionizer with the Oxidizing agent
The APVMA recommends the use of a registered sanitizer with an Ionizer. So if choosing to use the one that we suggest the better option is to oxidize with H2O2 as above in step 4.
6. Maintain the pool water balance correctly
Operate your (Robotic) pool cleaner once or twice per week (recommended) and Oxidize the water appropriately as in step 4. If following these steps there is no requirement for any chlorine or chlorine stabilizer to be in the pool.
